Installation Tips & Tricks
Follow these guidelines for a safe and successful flagpole installation.
Choose the Right Location
- Select an open area away from power lines, trees, and structures
- Ensure at least 8-10 feet of clearance from any obstruction in all directions
- Consider visibility from the street for maximum curb appeal
- Check local HOA rules and municipal codes before installing
Dig & Set the Foundation
- Call 811 before digging to locate underground utilities
- Dig the hole to the depth specified by your flagpole's instructions (typically 10% of pole height)
- Use a level to ensure the ground sleeve is perfectly plumb
- Pour concrete around the ground sleeve and let it cure for at least 48 hours
Assemble & Raise the Pole
- Lay out all parts and hardware before starting assembly
- Thread the halyard (rope) through the truck (pulley) before raising
- Have at least two people to safely raise the pole into the sleeve
- Apply anti-seize compound to all threaded connections
Safety First

Maintenance Tips
Keep your flagpole looking sharp and functioning properly year-round.
Cleaning & Appearance
- Wash your flagpole 2–3 times per year with mild soap and water
- Use a soft cloth or sponge — never abrasive pads on aluminum
- Apply automotive wax to the pole surface for extra protection and shine
- Inspect for oxidation or discoloration and address early
Rope & Hardware Care
- Inspect the halyard (rope) monthly for fraying or wear
- Replace rope every 2–3 years or sooner if signs of damage appear
- Lubricate the truck (pulley) and cleat annually with silicone spray
- Tighten all snap hooks, clips, and mounting hardware seasonally
Flag Care & Etiquette
- Replace your flag when it shows signs of fraying, fading, or tearing
- Take down your flag in severe weather unless it's an all-weather flag
- Illuminate your flag at night or lower it at sunset per U.S. Flag Code
- Nylon flags are best for most climates; polyester for high-wind areas

Wrap the base of your flagpole with reflective tape for nighttime visibility and safety.
Keep a spare halyard and snap hooks on hand — they're the most commonly replaced parts.
If your flag wraps around the pole frequently, check to make sure your pulley is positioned opposite of the prevailing winds.
